About
Monthly 10-bell practices commenced in October 2023. At that time they primarily involved ringers from Clun and Ludlow but they've since expanded to include ringers from Leominster, Bromyard, Hereford and the surrounding areas.
The aim of the practices is to bring together people who are interested in consolidating and/or extending their experience on 10 bells. The focus is on good striking and consistently achieving a quality of ringing which we can all enjoy.
The practices are not suitable for people with no prior experience of ringing on 10 bells (or above) - attendees should at least be able to ring a plain course of Stedman Caters confidently. These are not 'open' practices - you will need to confirm your attendance with the organiser in advance. Please use the contact page .
Upon request by the tower captain or ringing master, a 'learner' practice may be provided at a 10-bell tower to support local ringers wishing to venture into 10-bell ringing. The tower will be invited to make a voluntary donation to the Hereford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers - Bell Restoration Fund.
Please note, practices are organised independently of the management committees and officers of the Hereford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers or any other bellringing guild or association.
The current organiser is Mark Gilham, a bellringer whose home tower is St George's, Clun.
Practices are paused between June and September because people tend to be busy with holidays etc.
