What to Expect
Please read the about page which provides details of the underlying aims of the practices and who they are suitable for.
In order to encourage good striking and consistently achieve a quality of ringing which we can all enjoy, please observe the following.
- Arrive promptly so that full use is made of the available time.
- Ensure that you properly learn any method you wish to ring during a practice - do your homework.
- Bands will be placed for each touch with the intention of ensuring a sensible mix and placement of experienced and less-experienced ringers.
- If someone trips, concentrate on ringing your own bell and maintaining pace/rhythm. The conductor must call 'stand' if a ringer cannot get themselves back on the line within a few changes.
- Speak to the organiser about your particular wishes and aspirations so they may be accommodated - communication is encouraged.
- Use the Whatsapp group to influence what is rung at each practice and for quarter peal attempts - feedback is welcome.
- If you would like to run a practice and you're confident placing bands (many people struggle with this) contact the organiser.
Unless otherwise advised, a minimum tower donation of £2.00 per ringer is suggested. There are no other fees.
Practices are followed by refreshments at a local pub and sometimes a curry afterwards if people wish.
That's all!
